Luce Ends: Feb 27th
Time....where did you go??? (Also retrograde AGAIN??)
How it is March this weekend I do not know.
And to learn Mercury is back in retrograde?
I can’t do it! I CAN’T.
February feels foggy to me, A month wrapped in a haze. I have no sense of what I did or who I saw. My mom was visiting two week’s ago and it feels like it’s been two months. I haven’t even opened a book (weird for me) and I still haven’t started Love Story, everyone’s favorite show (I’ll get there, I promise.) I just feel like everything flew by and I have very little to show for it.
Then I look forward to March and I think “my god, that’s more jam packed than ever.” Not only are we traveling, but I also live within the pop culture zeitgeist — I look at the calendar and see SAG Awards and OSCARS, I see the Bachelorette premiere and the new Ladies of London. I’m very lucky that I get to look at all these fun things and say “my job is so overwhelming!” but it also feels very ridiculous to be overwhelmed by a TV schedule—such a struggle, I know!!
We’re in the midst of the Year of the Fire Dragon and Spring is about to be sprung. Part of my problem always comes from the feeling of getting older (my birthday is May, so yes, I’m being dramatic) and thinking I need to shove more into this fiscal year to be able to say I did a lot or even did enough. So, if you see me going overboard this month, just know that’s why. I am not of sound mind, I am making this harder than it needs to be and it will all come back to bite me in the ass per usual.
With that being said…let’s tie up some Luce Ends!
And the Oscar Goes to….
I love award season. And I’m sure some of my foggy February vibes stem from the fact that we really didn’t have an award show to obsess over during that time (yes we had Grammys but it’s not the same and BAFTAs fashion was on point, but I don’t watch that award show), so I’m thrilled that OSCARS is finally upon us, which brings me to Bill (my husband’s) very special side project. OSCARS BALLOTS!!
Up on my website, Bill is creating an interactive ballot for you to select all your Oscars predictions. This is important for many reasons—one, because we love award shows and two, because we want to test the site for traffic ahead of my March Madness. The last time we did full out March Madness (I had a baby in 2024 and did mini rematches of our favorite themes in 2025), we hand graded and scored over two-thousand ballots and…we just don’t want to do that again!!
So stay tuned for your ballots this week and March Madness….I really hope you like the theme, I’ve switched it four times.
Traitors Finale (spoilers ahead)
Because I’m once again late on my Luce Ends, I have the opportunity to wrap up my thoughts on the season. And, while I was rooting for the three stooges of Maura, Johnny and Tara to pull this off….but in the end, the right man lost.
Sorry, but that man has done the bare minimum and, while I found it very entertaining, I did not think it warranted $110K. And it’s even more infuriating that he was shocked by the blindsided!?!?! Rob sent home every other Traitor and you think he’s splitting the money with you??
As far as Maura goes—Monet X Change was on Las Culturistas this week and revealed that she had zero idea what the show was about and didn’t even realize they murdered people every night so the fact that she couldn’t clock Rob is the least shocking thing to happen. Again, maybe you look stupid and manipulated by a man, but at least you didn’t KNOW Rob was a Traitor who’d sent home every other Traitor and still believed he would split the money. THAT’S EMBARRASSING.
The reunion was once again lack luster and just a round up of people who either left too early and are just happy to be here or are bitter they lost (Candiace and Natalie, I know we’re here to air it all out, but at some point we need to just let it go…it’s a lot!) And then….Michael Rapaport.
All I’ll say is if NBC asks this man back on TV in any capacity, I will assume he has something on them that warrants looking into. And we MUST find another reason to get Lisa Rinna on our screens. MUST.
Love Island All Stars (spoilers ahead)
What a season. Despite changing my mind regarding Belle winning the entire thing by herself (I still refuse to ever be team Lucinda, that girl is more calculated than people are giving her credit for), I still was very nervous looking at out final couples and wondering who the UK public would actually choose to win. I was clearly one of the only people pulling for Whitney and Yamen, who got fifth, was relieved when Lucinda and Sean got called for fourth place despite the public giving them favorite couple a few days before, but when Scott and LeeAnn still got third after all their shit???
LeeAnn clearly won the public over because you all certainly couldn’t be voting for Scott! And then we were left with two — Ciaran and Sammie who I think are really well suited and in it for the long haul, but are a little boring and then Millie and Zac who are also not necessarily entertaining but are all over each other and really cute, despite me still not fully trusting Zac. I assumed, like Sammie and Ciaran, Millie would become a two time winner but I was stunned! Stunned!! When it wasn’t her! So for those who watched, I need to know….
As stated, I haven’t read a book in weeks and I still haven’t watched Love Story…to be honest, I think the fact that I know how it ends has me struggling to hit play, but I know people are enjoying it so this is the week I’ll eventually dive in!! Hopefully!
That being said, we have a LOT of March TV coming up so I’m here to get your calendars ready for that. And this is just the tip of the iceberg…I’m not even touching on two award shows!
Bachelor Mansion Takeover: HGTV has not been hitting for me lately, but this March I am feeling GIDDY about my home improvement lineup because we’re going to Reno the bachelor mansion!! But I am still wondering why we haven’t gotten a premiere date for my favorite show…Rock the Block!
Southern Hospitality: Okay, I wouldn’t say I’m excited for this premiere, but that’s because we are just starting our SoHo journey — everyone said it’s worth it, so far I’m just being forced to watch more Salley content, but I’ll trust you all….we just probably won’t catch up before the season’s over.
Dirty Rotten Scandal: Okay, after the ANTM doc, I’m craving more pop culture tea and luckily this is only a week away. Each week will be different, starting with Dr. Phil, followed by another ANTM breakdown (where hopefully they drag Tyra a little more), followed by Price Is Right. E! has nothing else going on right now, so fingers crossed they can produce!
Mormon Wives: Look, do I think this show is churning out content too much and always feels a little off, but I am ready to see some behind the scenes info on Whitney and Jen on DWTS and Taylor as the Bachelorette. I just don’t them overproducing the drama.
Ladies of London: As a diehard OG Ladies of London fan, I am THRILLED this show is coming back. Do I wish my queen, Caroline Stanbury was there? Or Sophie or Caroline Fleming or Juliet who’s on the HAYU Real Housewives of London show that I thought was this show at first…even the Countess of Sandwich I’d welcome! But alas, we’ve got a whole new crew and I’ll take what I can get!
The Bachelorette: Do I think Taylor Frankie Paul will end up with someone in the end? Indeed I do not! But will I be seated EVERY WEEK??? YUP. I fell off the Bachelor franchise several years back and I think this move by the powers the be is GENIUS in terms of bringing on someone fresh and outside the cycle and I hope it continues!!!
When it comes to my shopping cart, I’m in that very stressful in between phase of second winter and Spring being so close I can taste it….and I don’t want to keep wearing huge sweaters!! I’m over it!
So I’ve drafted up my Spring Wish List, filled with things I have and things I need and things I just want and probably don’t need. These are a few of my faves. As always, here are all my shopmy finds and here is my Amazon storefront for everything I’ve been linking this week!
Anthropolgie Viral Tobie Dress: THIS. DRESS. IS EVERYTHING. I can’t say enough good things, I have multiple colors, I raved about it all last summer and I’ll do it again this year.
Abercrombie Satin Pants: I love all of Abercrombie’s menswear style pants and these look just as lovely as my faves which are majorly on sale (but limited sizing), but this style is so versatile and a must have for Spring, Summer and Fall in my book.
Margaux Wrap Sandals: I raved about these last year and I’m doing it again!! I got these at the beginning of the summer and wore them DAILY. I went through a whole vineyard in them and have zero complains. Sure, these won’t support your arch but they’re still somehow comfortable and chic and a must have (I’m getting another color)
AGOLDE Long Shorts: Okay this style doesn’t work for everyone and I’m not sure it’ll work for me but I just saw these and I thought…I’d love to pull that off. It’s a reach and I really don’t care to wear much of any denim in the summer (I do like these and I love Abercrombie’s wide leg ones but I don’t see them this year!!) but I’m willing to dream big!
This Yellow Dress: I want to be a yellow person so bad but first I MUST get a spray tan. Even some self tanner will work, I just can’t even risk tryin something like this on without some bronze.
Smocked Ribbed Dress: Another one that is picked over in terms of sizes but I still feel I need to buy, this just feels like the perfect summer dress to throw on and feel fancier than I really am. Something about it screams “oh she’s been to the Hamptons before” when in fact…I have not.
I also really want a rattan (is that the material??) bucket hat so if anyone sees one of those, please send my way!!!
