February Romcom M.A.S.H.
Good as Gold mood board, casting call and excerpt!
Hello romantically inclined friends!
I feel there’s no better weekend to bombard you with romcom content you didn’t ask for than Valentine’s Day weekend and luckily, we have a M.A.S.H. to work through!
For those who are saying “wtf is Romcom M.A.S.H.?”, it’s a made up game I created for my own entertainment on my Instagram Stories where I poll you all on different scenarios and the pull it all together to craft our dream romcom.
I have now brought it over here to blow it even more out of proportion, again for my own entertainment.
This month’s M.A.S.H. was drafted up on Super Bowl Sunday, during the early days of the 2026 Milan Olympics, so I forcefully made it sports themed without consulting you all. From there you all took….very little creative liberties.
I’m not trying to shame you, we still got our story, BUT picking hockey and ice skating as our two Olympic sports was the lowest hanging fruit possible. It was my fault for putting them there to begin with, but I thought we’d go a little more out of the box!! What I’ve learned is I can’t put anything in the box and THEN you’ll be tempted to really push the limits!
But, like I said, we still have a story and that’s all that matters so let’s look at our poll results, shall we?
Trope: Forced Proximity with a sports angle
Location: Winter Olympics
Remi: Olympic Ice Skater, driven, passionate, slightly closed off, witty, sarcastic, focused, not here to make friends—only focused on winning
Connor: Olympic Hockey player, Golden boy, charming, funny, always camera ready, ego has gotten a little too big, doesn’t take life too seriously (certainly not as seriously as Remi)
What’s the forced proximity angle (minus they’re both at the Olympics): we had a close race here, but I went with her brother being on the Olympic Hockey team with Connor…and then I made it that Connor is experiencing his first ever mental block and has to tap no-nonsense Remi for some help
Which lead us here! To our back of book synopsis! (I did give a nod to our collective Bravo roots because the pun was just too hard to pass over!)
Now for the fun parts, our mood board, soundtrack and casting!
Good as Gold Mood Board
The vibes are simple this month—olympics, gold medals, and ice. In my mind, Remi has been fighting for gold her whole life (hence the girl sitting on the ice deep in thought in multiple shots) while Connor has had quite a different experience. He’s already a gold medal winner several times over while Remi is chasing hers!
Good as Gold Soundtrack
I’d like to note that I thought about this a LOT and chose “Skyfall” as Remi’s 2022 freestyle skate which is where we start our story, while “Survivor” is her 2026 short program song and “This is Me” is her 2026 freestyle.
Good as Gold Casting
Remi Rourke: In my mind, Remi is a brunette. She’s almost mysterious, but in the least cheesy way. While the people I cast don’t necessarily give off a “hard” look, I think they all look like they could put that wall up if needed. They feel quieter, but not in a shy way. In a “I’ll speak when I have something to say way” that is very impressive. They’re not going to waste words on people they don’t like…and they don’t like a lot of people. That’s how I picture Remi. A nut to crack.
*I also feel like, after the let down in Beijing and while working her way back to the 2026 Olympics, Remi get a degree in sports psychology which is why she’ll be even more qualified to help Connor.
Yes, I overthink these things!
Connor Voss: As you all decided, Connor is a charmer. He is the face of Team USA, he’s got the PR smile and PR answers and doesn’t mind the spotlight like Remi. He enjoys it because it’s always been positive. He’s ambitious and a hard worker, but he hasn’t experienced the same tough parts of being an Olympian that Remi has. Which is why she can’t stand him. So when he starts getting a mental block and his game (and gold are at risk), he needs Remi’s help. And because he’s her brother, Levi’s, teammate, he expects her to help him.
*Obviously Connor has had hardships, we just don’t know what those are now, but I think it makes sense that this is both their last chance at gold and that’s weighing on them. Remi has something to prove and Connor has pressure he hasn’t fully accepted to win again.
For this next part, I have a treat for those who want it. Obviously, not necessarily polished, but in honor of Valentine’s Day and the Olympics still going on, I just felt like writing a little prologue would be be a nice treat and a thank you to everyone who subscribes.
So without further ado….here’s one more chance to subscribe.
And NOWWWWWWW without further ado….
