Luce Ends: June 12
I really hate goodbyes.
I was supposed to write this days in advance (you know, since I’m moving and all—wanted to get ahead of things), but alas, here I am scrambling. I’m starting this during a thunderstorm warning that, in some areas, is a tornado warning.
I’d say this week has gone by in a blur, but really…it came through like a freight train. Frankie had a bad cold and fever, then she fell down the stairs (she’s fine, she did a nice tuck and roll and was only a few from the bottom but still…), multiple storms hit Chicago, some of which had veryyyy Dorothy in Kansas energy….all while attempting to finish packing (attempted being key word). To be honest, I’m holding up pretty well, but I do fear a crash is imminent.
*with all that said, I’m hope these storms are just that — bad storms — and everyone is safe outside the city and the damage is minimal.
But as you may have noticed, this final Chicago Luce Ends is coming later than usual. Of course it’s late, why wouldn’t it be late? If the week was any indication, there was no way last night would go off without a hitch and I’d wrap things up before the clock struck twelve and yet I was still surprised when shit hit the fan…again. Both my children woke up at 10pm with coughs that prevented me from turning this in on time (I’m the one who set the deadline, but still) and also made sleep essentially obsolete. Bill was kicked out of our bed there was so much kicking last night, Coco even eventually moved back to her own because “it was scary in there”. All this to say, it’s the morning of and I’m scrambling and I wish I was a proactive person more than ever….alas, I’ve always been this way.
So here we are—you’re catching me after a bad night’s sleep, right after I dropped the girls off for their last day of school and cried to all their teachers and before my last therapy session where I have to say goodbye to my therapist. So yeah, this Luce Ends is filled with nothing but tears and fears. And I don’t know where to go from here!
All this to say I’m fragile! My ends are loose and my emotions are at an all time high. Hopefully next week I come to you all saying this was all an overreaction. If not next week, then the week after….or the one after that.
The moral of this story is, get your work done ahead of time. And fuck goodbyes.
This week’s Luce Ends…
Plans for the next two weeks…
A lot of links (I’m going to have a lot of house stuff coming once we move in…gird your loins)
Goodbye Chicago….Hello My Moms House
Just so everyone is aware, the next two weeks will be chaotic. More chaotic than usual I should say. The girls and I take off Sunday and land in Kansas City with the clothes on our bodies, a swimsuit and pajamas (we’re shipping clothes because I can’t manage two toddlers, my hormones and a suitcase at the airport) and we are moving in with my mom until TBD. I say “TBD” because Bill follows that Thursday with the cats and fish (Ts and Ps there) and the truck arrives sometime after that…..I am not saying when because I’m sure that will jinx it.
So with that, my TV viewing schedule will be hijacked. God knows if my mom will be able to sit through an episode of either Love Island, I’m burnt out on Summer House, I don’t want to fall off RHORI with one episode left but the good news is she always loved the RHOA ladies so she might dabble there but….another TBD! So either next week will be a short and sweet summary of all the HGTV we’re watching and an update on the house we will have only JUST gotten the keys to and spent more than the previous 30 minutes in (also the washing machine already broke)….or it’ll be me screaming into the void.
Stay tuned!
Summer House Rant Pt 3
I finished my final Summer House Reunion Recap and released it at the worst time of day for optimal performance so….if you haven’t read it, here it is!
Basically, I am satisfied and don’t need the “Aftermath” special. The aftermath for me is the fact that no one has their contracts for next season yet, Ciara has already touched down in Fiji and Amanda was seen spitting into West’s mouth in Italy.
I need a fresh scandal. I need some low hanging fruit. I need the days where the Kardashian’s weren’t dating Hollywood A-Listers as their next PR stunt (I actually like all these couples, minus Kourtney and Travis) and, if nothing else, I NEED SOMETHING TO CHANGE ON LOVE ISLAND USA. I’m not giving up (I need Love Island to get me through the next few weeks), but I have yet to become invested….maybe it’s a me problem.
In terms of Love Island…I might record my thoughts and post them here as a sort of faux podcast thing that I don’t have to edit….TBD again!!!
